First Blog

Hi there,

This is my very first blog, and I'm learning how to do things I've never done before. I love woodworking - making special pens, key rings with secret compartments, and many other fun things. My brain is constantly thinking about new ways to use my woodworking skills. I'm learning to cast my own pen blanks so I can do a snakeskin pen. I'll let you know more about that later.

I am excited about creating memorial key rings and pens for those who want to keep cremains from their favorite uncle or favorite pet close to them.

We recently had a forest fire here in Timberon, NM, and I have produced a few key rings that contain samples of the ashes from the fire - as momentos for people who want to remember.

  1. I didn't know you were wood working!! That's great! So you make pens, and what would have the secret chambers?
A little story, I thought the other day I might be able to create something working in wood only to find out I can't carve a thing!!
Do you sell you items? If so how much for a pen, I love pens and it would be great if you had made it!
This blog was a great idea too, but you always have the best ideas. I'm one of your followers now so I'll be chaecking in!!

  2. Looks great Shirley. I'm glad to see that I'm your first comment. Keep up the good work and I'll be checking in on you from time to time.
To anyone else, I've seen her work and it's great. My wife, Gwen even has one of her pins and she just loves it.

  3. The secret chamber can hold "emergency money" ($100 bill) you want to keep hidden, toothpicks, medicine, or even ashes of your beloved pet or cremated loved one. They are really great. I'll put a picture of on my blog.

Kim, I'll make you a pen - I charge $25 for a regular pen. What kind of wood would you like and what shape? Do you like a "finger bump" near the bottom, or a really slim pen, or a bumpy one, or one shaped like a woman's body - larger on the outside and smaller in the middle, top, and bottom? Look at the picture on the web and see if you can tell. I have cocobolo and bocote from South America, birdseye maple, bloodwood, tulipwood, and many more. Check them out and let me know.
